The Dog Lair is a family owned and operated dog training business located in Northern California. Two generations of world class experience enables us to provide our clients with the knowledge, structure, tools, and confidence needed to facilitate a thriving relationship between dog and owner.  

BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION Board & TRAIN

All of our board and train programs involve intensive obedience and socialization ranging from two to six weeks, depending on the specific needs of our clients. The most popular board and train option is our four week program that will create a strong foundation and structure for you and your dog. Training will not only focus on following obedience commands, but we also teach the dog how to relax and enter a calm state of mind while looking to its owner for leadership.

While at The Dog Lair your dog will stay in our home receiving the same around the clock attention and care we give to our family dogs. All of the training we do transfers from our facility out into the public. After our standard four week board and train you can expect your dog to know the following:

• Sit/stay

• Down/stay

• “Place”/ “Bed” command (indoors and outdoors)

• Heeling and leash etiquette. No pulling, lunging, barking and reacting to other dogs

• Recall; come when called

• Waiting at doors/thresholds

• In and out of crate on command

• Socialization and confidence building for your dog

• Work through anxieties and fears that lead to bad behaviors

After completing the program we will provide you with a one hour lesson including a take home video highlighting what your dog has learned during its stay at The Dog Lair. This video serves as a reference guide to help our clients maintain their training throughout the dogs life. During the go home lesson we will walk you through what your dog has learned and have you practice these tasks with your dog. We want to ensure you are feeling confident and comfortable when you leave our facility with your newly trained dog.

PRIVATE LESSONS

We hold private lessons on our property in Northern California. Private lessons are great for everything from puppy imprinting to general obedience. Whatever specific problems you are having we can help correct.

PUPPY TRAINING

Starting early training and socialization are crucial to raising a happy, well-rounded puppy. We offer socialization and basic obedience training for puppies. In addition, we can teach you how to best communicate with your puppy and be the pack leader from the start. If you are adding a new puppy to your family this is an excellent way to ensure that you build a strong foundation to start your relationship.
